    Description

    1946 CESSNA 140 COMPLETE AIRFRAME, VIRTUALLY NO DAMAGE, UPDATED, IN ANNUAL, GREAT PROJECT, CHEAP!
    THE 140 IS THE “DELUXE” 2 SEAT CESSNA OF THE POSTWAR ERA, WITH 85 H.P. STANDARD.
    THIS ALL METAL AIRPLANE, WITH 2 REAL DOORS, SIDE BY SIDE SEATING, FLAPS, DUAL YOKE CONTROLS AND A COMFORTABLE SEAT WAS A MODERN ANSWER TO LIGHT GENERAL AVIATION FLYING, DECADES AHEAD OF THE CUBS AND CHAMPS WHICH WERE BASICALLY THE SAME AS THEIR PRE-WAR OFFERINGS.
    AS A RESULT OF THE ALL ALUMINUM CONSTRUCTION, THE 140 IS ALSO NOT SUBJECT TO TUBING RUST, FABRIC DEGRADATION AND WOOD ROT, SO THE AIRPLANES HOLD UP MUCH BETTER!
    THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN TASTEFULLY UPDATED FOR ADDED SAFETY, WITH THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONS:
    CLEVELAND WHEELS AND BRAKES
    SCOTT 3200 TAILWHEEL ASSEMBLY (BRAND NEW IN 2018!)
    SHOULDER HARNESSES AND NEW SEATBELTS
    FUSELAGE TOP STROBE
    ALL FLIGHT INSTRUMENTS OVERHAULED IN 1998 WHEN AN UPGRADE WAS DONE.
    THIS AIRPLANE HAS BEEN USED AND MAINTAINED REGULARILY, BUT THE 2018 ANNUAL BY A DIFFERENT SHOP THAN HAD SEEN THE AIRPLANE BEFORE WAS EXTENSIVE AND CORRECTED/REPAIRED/UPDATED LOTS OF LITTLE THINGS THE AIRPLANE NEEDED.
    THE SAME SHOP HAS DONE THE ANNUALS SINCE AS WELL AND IN 2019 REPLACED ALL OF THE CONTROL CABLES ON THE WHOLE AIRPLANE WITH NEW!
    THE LAST ANNUAL WAS PERFORMED IN NOVEMBER OF 2020 AND SO IS NOT DUE AGAIN UNTIL DECEMBER FIRST OF 2021!
    THE OPPOSITE OF A BARN FIND OR SITTER, THIS IS A SUPER WELL MAINTAINED AIRPLANE, FLOWN 32 HOURS SINCE THE LAST ANNUAL AND STILL IN CALENDAR ANNUAL TODAY!!
    IT’S IN GREAT SHAPE, BUT IT’S NOT PERFECT!
    THIS AIRPLANE SUFFERED DAMAGE TO THE LOWER COWL (DENT) AND THE LEFT WINGTIP (DENT) WHEN THE PILOT MISTAKENLY RELEASED THE BRAKES AND TAXIED AT IDLE INTO THE EDGE OF A HANGER WHILE HIS HEAD WAS DOWN.
    THE AIRPLANE WAS BARELY MOVING, WHICH IS WHY THE TWO DENTS (SHOWN ) ARE SO MINOR!
    THE PROP TIPS WERE ALSO DAMAGED AND THEREFORE THE ENGINE RECEIVED A PROP STRIKE, SO WE HAVE REMOVED THEM AND THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS AUCTION.
    STILL INCLUDED ARE THE EXHAUST SYSTEM (UNDAMAGED), THE AIRBOX (UNDAMAGED), THE ENGINE MOUNT, HARDWARE, ETC.
    THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE TOP COWL AT ALL
    NO DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL
    NO DAMAGE TO THE ENTIRE, COMPLETE FUSELAGE, DOORS, SKYLIGHTS, BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD, ETC., ETC.
    THE RIGHT WING WAS NOT DAMAGED IN THE INCIDENT, BUT THE PEOPLE WHO DISASSEMBLED THE AIRPLANE SET THE WING ON THE INBOARD LEADING EDGE AND PUT A SLIGHT DENT IN THE CURVE (THIS WILL POP BACK OUT)  THE RIGHT AILERON TRAILING EDGE INBOARD TIP HAS A VERY SLIGHT BEND, PROBABLY FROM HANDLING.
    THE RIGHT WING, TANK, FLAP, TIP HAVE NO OTHER DAMAGE.
    THE LEFT WING TIP (METAL, LIKE ANY OTHER SEPARATE (CAP) TIP, BUT RIVITED ON, NOT SCREWED, HAS A DENT IN THE LEADING EDGE.  This tip is replaceable without affecting the spars, ribs or skins of the wing itself.
    THERE IS NO DAMAGE TO THE FLAP OR AILERON AND THE WING IS DAMAGED ONLY AT THE TIP AND THAT SAME LITTLE DING ON THE INBOARD LEADING EDGE AS THE RIGHT WING.
    THE TAIL AND TAILFEATHERS WERE NOT AFFECTED AT ALL!
    INSIDE, THE DASH AND INSTRUMENTS LOOK GOOD.  THE SEAT UPHOLSTRY IS A LITTLE THREADBARE (I SUSPECT IT HAD A SEAT COVER ON IT, BUT WE DIDN’T GET IT), BUT THE BALANCE LOOKS GOOD.
    SO YOU NEED ONLY : REPLACE THE LEFT TIP, MESSAGE THE LITTLE LEADING EDGE INBOARD DINGS AND STRAIGHTEN OR REPLACE THE LEFT LOWER COWLING SKIN AND THE AIRFRAME IS READY TO GO!
    THE PAPERWORK IS AWESOME, INCLUDING COMPLETE AND CONSECUTIVE LOGBOOKS FOR THE AIRFRAME FROM MAY OF 1946 ONWARD TO THE PRESENT (5 BOOKS, THE EARLY BOOKS DON’T HAVE MANY PAGES)
    TOTAL AIRFRAME TIME IS 4,927
