Here is a vintage DW 5000 drum pedal. It hooks onto the lower pad and it has a little box that an in and out, it looks like and a small white adjustment screw on it. Check out the pictures. Maybe this is a practice pedal? I do not know why it has the input,  Maybe you can plug it into an amplifier.
On the bottom of the unit, it has 2 strips of velcro you can velcro it onto your board. It has a nylon strap to secure the pedal to the assembly.
